The latest toy from Bang & Olufsen is the Beo 5 remote control. What does it do? The Beo 5 offers touch-screen control of your TV, films, music and more. The remote is designed to know what products you have and will be able to control new Bang & Olufsen products, even the ones that haven’t been created yet. The Beo 5 presents the info you need on its hardened glass screen without having to clutter up the screen of your television. It can be linked up with home automation so that with one touch you could close the curtains, dim the lights, set the sound of the speakers and open the DVD player to prepare for a movie. The design reminds me a bit of B & O’s Serene phone with the juxtaposition of the circle and the square. For more pics check out Engadget HD’s gallery.

Ready to feel old, the venerable Think Pad computer is 15. Our friends at Engadget reported this earlier this summer (check out their fancy gallery of pics) but the popular computer is coming out in a swanky reserve edition that is wrapped in leather and looks a bit like a portfolio. The computer has a Centrino Pro Core 2 Duo L7500 processor, WWAN, 2GB of RAM, a 160GB HDD a 12.1-inch screen and a seven-hour battery. Each one is numbered and the maker of the Think Pad, Lenovo, will emboss the owner’s name on the leather cover. To compensate for the heat of the leather, the engineers created a system to release heat through the sides. The leather also adds a bit of heft. The detail that really gets me about this one is the little antenna that pops up to help improve access to wi-fi networks. The reserve edition sells for $5,000.

I’m really into having great surround sound for my home movies, but I just don’t have the time to get all technical and read up on what’s the best, what’s a rip-off, etc. But in reading this post over at Spungle I’m thinking I want me a Niro 620 Home Theater System — if it’s only half as good as they say I’d be more than happy. If you’re like me (the type that really gets into movies with awesome sound effects and music tracks) then you know that the entire viewing experience can be made or broken by the quality of your sound system. The Niro 620 sounds like it’s one of the best, of not the best, and it’s priced reasonably at $995.

Wouldn’t it be great to have the option of stepping into a steam bath or a sauna whenever you felt the urge? But heading to the spa isn’t always convenient, or even desirable if you’re not in the mood to leave house, so all too often you’re just left wishing.
Well you wouldn’t be if you had this Tris Shower Cabin from Ideal Standard. It combines a shower, a sauna, and a steam bath all into one beautiful luxury unit that doesn’t take up any more space than a standard bathtub. It has high tech controls blended seamlessly with a warm golden woodgrain design for a luxurious appearance as well as a luxurious experience.

As our friends at The Unofficial Apple Weblog have reported Apple unveiled their latest iPhone and iPod models which included the sexy new iPod touch and a drop in the prices of iPhones. Around the world the iPhone is big news even in the places that isn’t supposed to be yet. An Associated Press article says that the iPhone can be bought in China although Apple isn’t selling it there yet. Early adopters hungry for the latest technology are willing to pay 8,800 yuan ($1,170) for the iPhone even though the gadget doesn’t function completely. The iPhone in China can make calls and send text messages, but it can’t receive calls and you don’t even get voicemail. The iPhone isn’t set to launch in Asia until next year which at the current rate could be three or four versions from now.

Although here in the Midwest pool season is almost over, there are those lucky to be living in areas where they may just be getting started with the warm season or else it’s toasty all year round. For those folks (or those of us in colder climates can put it on our wish list for next year) this Aquapub not only looks like bunches of fun, but it looks like unique fun your neighbors probably aren’t offering. It’s one thing to enjoy a Mai Tai by the pool, but what about in it? That can be a little awkward unless you have the Aquapub that seats six and comes complete with cup holders, 2 stashes, and an umbrella. It drains water, is a portable 90 lbs and is made of recycled materials. What more could you want?

I thought the new CD player from Bryston was pricey but the new 061 Classic Line CD Player from Burmester which is being unveiled at the CEDIA expo blows it away. The top-of-the-line model has a dedicated top-loading CD Playback system, a Phillips CD 2 Pro direct drive with a modified servo board and advanced converter technology with switchable upsampling rates of 96 and 192 kHz, and top-of-the-line analog output stages. The top loader is made of milled aluminum with a 10-millimeter thick tray that softly moves on Teflon rails. The 061 CD Player’s connection panel includes two digital RCA inputs and outputs, one Toslink optical digital input and output, a balanced XLR stereo output, and two unbalanced stereo RCA stereo outputs. The 061 Classic Line CD Player in silver housing with a chrome front panel has a suggested price of $11,995. Burmester has a variety of high-end uadio products and has also created the sound system for the Bugatti Veyron.

I doubt my Grandfather would be very keen on wearing this hearing aid even if somebody paid him, but of course there’s always somebody out there willing (even if it’s only the one person who designed it!). Made by Widex, this digital hearing aid is cast in 24k gold and encrusted with 220 diamonds. And I can’t help but notice that Widex gave their logo on the bottom some extra attention, so any admirers will be sure to know where they can get one of their own. Get yours for only $42,590 and let the gawking begin.
